Color Throw Down and a Sketch

Hi again Stampers!

Today's card is another combo of challenges and boy was this one a challenge! For some reason my creativity is still asleep because I had a hard time getting this card to come together!

I combined the Color Throw Down for the week with Kerin's sketch over at Stamps, Paper, Glitter

I started with a WW card base and added a panel of Bordering Blue stamped in the same color with one of the flowers from the Eastern Blooms stamp set. I stamped the other flowers from the Eastern Blooms set in Elegant Eggplant, Barely Banana, and Bordering Blue randomly on WW and matted it with a panel of Barely Banana.
Next I added a strip of Elegant Eggplant and a smaller strip of Barely Banana across my card. My sentiment comes from the Cute and Curly stamp set, stamped in Elegant Eggplant and punched with the Label Punch. I added a Barely Banana flower punched with my Boho Blossoms punch and a little Metal Sticker from Joann's $1 spot to finish it off.

I hope you are having a terrific weekend! Come back tomorrow when I post the "Last Chance List" of retiring stamp sets and accessories from the Spring/Summer 2009 Catalog. These items go FAST so if there's an In Color Accessory or stamp pad you've been wanting you might want to do it right away!

Hugs,
Elizabeth

Sweet Sunday Birthday

Hi there! Thanks for coming to visit!

Today's card is my submission for Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch. Her sketches are always the best!

I started out with a WW base and added a panel of Sweet Always DSP matted with a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock. I used the direct to paper technique, I like to call it "schmootzing", on the edges of the card in Regal Rose and Pumpkin Pie and stamped my sentiment from the Big Bold Birthday stamp set in Chocolate Chip. I stamped my main image on WW also in Pumpkin Pie and Regal Rose, made a mask and stamped the polka dots in Chocolate Chip and also "schmootzed" the edges.

I added three little party blowers punched with my 1" Circle Punch, matted with Chocolate Chip cardstock punched with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch and adhered with Dimensionals. Not too sure about this card but I think I like it. :)

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Mojo Monday Forest Friends

Hey there stampers! Happy Friday!

Today's cards are ones I made following the Mojo Monday Sketch of the week. I really liked this one and thought I'd break out my sweet little Forest Friends since I hadn't used them in a while.

I used pretty much the same cardstock and colors for both these cards. I started out with a Very Vanilla card base and added a panel of Always Artichoke just on the bottom of one of the cards and then entire card on the other. I added some Candy Lane DSP on the bottom of the bunny card and cut my two matching pieces for my owl card also in Candy Lane DSP.
The bunny card has two matching pieces of Manchester DSP. The ribbon is Mellow Moss Gingham Ribbon (retired I think)and brads that I have in my stash are probably from Joann's or Michael's. I stamped my trees using my SU Markers and punched it out with my 1 3/4" Circle Punch and added my bunny and owl to each card.
I used my 3/4" Square Punch to punch out the sentiment from the Goody Goody Gum Drops stamp set (hostess set) for my owl card and used the same sentiment for my bunny card but trimmed it with my scissors add adhered it to a heart from the Heart to Heart Punch.

How can you resist these adorable little critters I have no idea!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll come back soon!

Color Challenge and a Sketch!

Good Morning Stampers! Happy Thursday!

Today's card combines two challenges again. :) I used Kristina Werner's Color Challenge and the Diva Coffee Break ladies came up with another great sketch!

I started out my card with my typical WW base, added a panel of Pacific Point stamped with the large star from the Nursery Necessities stamp set in White Craft Ink, and added my strip of Real Red stamped with one of the sentiments in the same set in Basic Black. I added the Silver Brads and stamped my moon and little stars in Summer Sun. I punched out my little stars with the Small Star Punch and hand cut the moon. I added my images using Snail and Dimensionals. Very simple, as almost all my cards are, but definitely packs a punch with the bright colors!

Hope you liked my card and to see you again tomorrow!

Opus Gluei Challenge of the Week

Good Morning Stampers! Thanks for stopping by!

This week's challenge over at the fabulous Order of the Opus Gluei blog is to really stretch yourself and use colors that you really wouldn't be drawn to. Now I can't say there are too many colors that I can't stand, but if I were to pick one I'd have to say Cameo Coral is not one of my faves. So I made a card using Cameo Coral which was a little bit of a stretch but what really was a stretch was using one of my Summer Sun Corderoy Brads. Using different colors not too difficult, using some of my hoarded and hidden never to really be used embellishments...now THAT's a stretch! ;)

I started out with a Whisper White base, added a panel of Raspberry Tart DSP (with Cameo Coral in it)and added my daisy cut with the Sizzix Bigz Daisies #2 Die. I used my beloved Summer Sun Corderoy Brad in the center and cut some Green Galore using the Sizzlit Little Leaves Die. The sentiment is from the Oval All stamp set and is stamped in Cameo Coral, punched with the Large Oval Pucch and layered on some Cameo Coral punched with the Scallop Oval Punch. Super simple and I think I like it even it it is a lot of Cameo Coral. :)

Thanks for checking in with me and please go visit Jana and Rosemary and check out their ultra fun challenges!

Totally Tool Tool Box

Good Morning Stampers! Was it just as hard for you as it was for me to get moving this morning? I can't wait for summer break!

Today I am going to show you the 3-D project we made at my stamp camps this past weekend. My good friend and fellow stamp-aholic, Allison (Hi Allison!!)helped me create this super cute project.

We started with a Basic Gray piece of cardstock that we die cut using the Sizzix Bigz Box #2 Die. Then we ran it through with the Spots and Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and sponged the edges of the box to make it look dirty! We made the handle by punching two holes in our box lid and ribbon using the 1/16" handheld punch and added two silver brads to keep it in place. The tools from the Totally Tool stamp set are stamped in Black Stazon and colored in using various SU Markers. The mints inside the box are covered with Basic Black and Basic Gray punched with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch and the stamped tools punched with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. We set a Jumbo White Grommet in a 1 3/8" Circle of Basic Black since it looked like a washer and only three of the tools really fit in the cirles nicely.

So what do you think?

Hope you have a super day and that you come back to visit again soon!

Stamp Camp Samples

Happy Memorial Day Stampers! Thanks for stopping by!

Today I am showing off a few of the cards we made at my stamp camps this weekend. I have to admit I CASED all of them because they were just perfect as is! Thanks to all the ladies who post their awesome work!

This first card is called a "z" fold card and I CASED it from Jan Tinklenberg at Stamps, Paper, Scissors. The golfer from the Many Mower stamp set is just perfect for a Father's Day card or male birthday. I used Urban Oasis DSP, a large white brad for the golf ball, Tangerine Tango for the flag and a couple 1/2" Kiwi Kiss Circles with 1/4" Close to Cocoa Circles inside for an added touch to the corner.

This card is called a "hinge card" or a "flip card" and I got the idea from our Stampin' Success magazine exclusive to Stampin' Up demonstrators. I CASED this design from Sarah at Stamp with Sarah. I opted to just adhere the ribbon without a knot and changed the sentiment to "Happy Father's Day" from the Many Mower stamp set. I used a jumbo copper brad, left off the paper piercing that Sarah had done on hers and instead ran the Always Artichoke piece through with a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder to give it some texture. Love it!

This last card took quite a while to put together because there are a lot of images to individually cut out. It was all worth it though and my ladies agreed! (Hi Ladies!)
I CASED this card from Wanda at My Creative Corner
I changed the DSP to Manchester, used the Branch Out stamp set(one of my faves)for the trees in the background, and used Kiwi Kiss for my Scallop Oval piece. Otherwise it's almost exactly the same! Super stinking cute if you ask me ;)

I have one more project that we made (and it wasn't CASED!!) but I'll show that off tomorrow. I hope you have a great day as we remember all the men and women who gave their lives to ensure our continued freedom.

Hugs,
Elizabeth

Purple Petal Pizazz!

Hi there stampers! How's your weekend going? I, for one, am soooo glad we have one more day in this weekend!

So yesterday while I had my Lovely Lilac, Elegant Eggplant, and Old Olive out for this week's Color Throw Down I thought I'd stamp another card and this time use Taylor's Sketch.

I started out with a Lovely Lilac card base and stamped the flowers from the Petal Pizazz stamp set in Lovely Lilac, Elegant Eggplant and Old Olive.

I matted it on a piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock and die cut Old Olive with the Little Leaves Sizzlit. I stamped the largest flower from Petal Pizazz in Elegant Eggplant, cut it out and adhered it to the corner of my card. I added a Lovely Lilac circle cut with my 1/2" Circle Punch with a white brad in the center popped up on a Dimensional and the sentiment from Birthday Hugs and Wishes punched with the Large Oval Punch layered on Elegant Eggplant punched with the Scallop Oval Punch.

Very purply but pretty I think.

Thanks for checking in with me! I hope you are having a great weekend with your friends and families.

Color Throw Down and a Sketch in Purple

Good Morning Stampers! Thanks for stopping by on this Memorial Day weekend!

Today's card is another 2 sketches combined. I took the colors of this week's Color Throw Down of Lovely Lilac, Elegant Eggplant and Old Olive
and combines it with Kerrin's weekly sketch over at Stamps, Paper, Glitter.
I still had some Glossy Cardstock on my work table so I took my Sponge Daubers and inked them up in Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant and Lovely Lilac and randomly colored in my panel. Then I went back and stamped the leaves from the Great Friend set in Old Olive and the butterfly in Elegant Eggplant. You have to be careful when stamping on Glossy Cardstock or your images will smear.

After letting it dry for a bit, I added my brads using my Piercing Tool and Mat Pack, matted it on a piece of Elegant Eggplant and adhered it to my Lovely Lilac card base stamped with Elegant Eggplant leaves. I added the Elegant Eggplant strip and the sentiment was stamped in Elegant Eggplant and Lovely Lilac for the frame and popped up with Dimensionals. I am happy with how this turned out.

Hope you have a terrific rest of your Saturday! I am looking forward to my 2nd Stamp Camp this afternoon!
Hugs,
Elizabeth

Masculine Stamp Camp card

Good Morning Stampers! Happy Friday! I am excited tonight is the first of my two my Masculine Stamp Camps, I have some fun ladies coming tonight and tomorrow afternoon!

Today's card is one we are making tonight. It's simple but fun and based on THIS card I saw on Splitcoast Stampers.

I started with a Real Red base, added a mat of Basic Black, a panel of So Saffron and a panel of the Jackpot DSP. I stamped my sentiment in Basic Black using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line it up perfectly. "Big Winner" is from the Game night stamp set as well as the dice images. "Birthday Celebrations" is from the Upsy Daisy stamp set. I thought the two together worked well! I stamped the dice in Basic Black on 1" square pieces of WW (no there is not a 1" Square Punch!). Those were matted on So Saffron punched with the 1 1/4" Square Punch and then onto Real Red punched with the Square Scallop Punch.

What do you think?
Hope you have a terrific day! I am going to clean up my house and do some last minute food shopping for tonight! See you tomorrow!

Elizabeth

Relax and some Kittens!

Good Morning Stampers! Thanks for stopping by!

Today's card is my submission for the latest Opus Gluei challenge called Getaway. I used the Just Beachy set from the Occasions Mini because it just screams summer vacation!
I started with a Tangerine Tango base and stamped the flip flop images from the Just Beachy set in the same color along the bottom. I stamped all my images in Black Stazon and colored them in with my beloved SU Markers. I used the Ticket Corner Punch on my main image and matted it in Tempting Turquoise and Brilliant Blue. I punched the popsicles with my 3/4" Circle Punch and layered it on Summer Sun punched with my 1" Circle Punch. The sentiment comes from the Many Mower stamp set and is adhered with Dimensionals. Super bright, cheery and summery-definitely says "Getaway" to me!

So for those of you who read my blog often, you know that we are a crazy cat family. We foster kitties who have been abandoned, are feral(wild), or are from the pound through an organization called Pink Paws here in Simi Valley. We get them tested, vaccinated, fixed and ready for their new permanent homes. It is so fun and rewarding. Being that kitten season has begun there have been a steady stream of kittens through our group. I actually have two sets of kittens that we are fostering right now. I have pictures of them to share!

These little guys are from the pound where they would for sure have been put down (they don't even TRY to get them homes when they are tiny! Can you imagine?!?) They are now about 6 weeks old and will be fixed next week and off to adoption. Actually two of them already have been spoken for!

The next set is a feral mamma and her four 3 week old babies. The babies are now stating to play which is so fun to watch. We've been leaving them pretty much alone other than food, water and litter box changing because their mamma is NOT happy and I don't want to stress her out and have her stop nursing her babies!

Hope you enjoyed my card and the baby fuzzy faces! Have a terrific day!
Hugs,
Elizabeth

Great Friend

Hi there Stampers!

I promised you this week was going to be full of combined challenges-here's another- #3 for the week! :) I am a happy camper!

Today I combined the Mojo Monday Sketch of the week and Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge using Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand, More Mustard and So Saffron.

I started out with a WW card base, added a panel of So Saffron stamped in the same color using the stems from Great Friend in the Occasion Mini Catalog, and the Baja Breeze piece for the top. I used my Scallop Edge Punch on a strip of More Mustard, stamped the frame in Sahara Sand also from the Great Friend set and then used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp my sentiment in Baja Breeze exactly in the center of the frame. I know INCREDIBLE! There's no way I could have stamped it without my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig!
The panel behind the sentiment was made with a super easy and neat looking technique that I cannot remember what it is called. You simply sponge ink from your ink pads randomly in a circular motion on Glossy cardstock. I matted that with a piece of Sahara Sand, added some daisies from the Sizzix Bigz Daisies #2 Die and a Build-A-Brad in the center with some Walk in the Park DSP. It's definitely different, but I think I like it. :)

Hope you enjoyed today's card! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Elizabeth

You Rock!

Good Morning Stampers! Thanks for stopping by today!

I got a chance to stamp a bit today after helping a friend with her graduation invitations and another friend with our class memory book for our daughters' teacher in honor of teacher appreciation week. There are so many sketches and color challenges to play with that I have been combining them. This week promises to have several challenges combined in my cards!

Today's card is a fun one-great for teens and tweens. I used the Color Throw Down challenge with Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black and So Saffron and Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch-an awesome sketch as always!

I started with a square card base of Tempting Turquoise measuring 4 3/4" x 9 1/2" folded in half. I added triangles of So Saffron and Basic Black and then stamped my Tempting Turquoise mat in the same color using the stars from the Just Jawing set. I stapled a piece of the So Saffron ribbon from Sale-A-Bration on the edge for interest.
The skull is stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White, cut out and adhered with Dimensionals as is the Tempting Turquoise bow. The sentiment, also in Basic Black on Whisper White, is adhered so it is raised a little like a flag flapping in the wind. The final touch...a little bling with Dazzling Diamonds on the eyes of the skull.

So it's been pretty quiet here as far as comments-anybody out there?!?!?!? (echo....echo...) I know it's so much faster and you can see so many more awesome blogs if you don't comment but please send me some love! ;)

Have a great day and I hope you stop by again soon!

A Color Challenge and a Sketch!

Happy Monday Stampers! Hope you had a terrific weekend!

Today's card is another combination of challenges. I took Taylor's Cupcake Challenge Sketch and Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge and put them together to create a card I am not too crazy about but it's Monday and it was still pretty early when I started.

I started with a Sahara Sand Base and added a panel of the Walk in the Park DSP from the Occasions Mini-I love this paper and you can get it FREE when you buy three packs of DSP through the end of May! I added a Whisper White Scallop Circle punched with the Sizzix Bigz Scallop Circles #2 Die, a strip of More Mustard and a piece of So Saffron punched with the Scallop Edge Punch. I used my 1/4" Circle Punch (retired) to punch mini circles in So Saffron, Sahara Sand and Baja Breeze to add to my More Mustard strip and used my White Gel Pen to add doodle dots to them and the scallops.
I used my new Beautiful Butterflies Sizzix Bigz Die to die cut a butterfly in Baja Breeze and another smaller one in the Walk in the Park DSP and layered them together. The flower is from the Daisies #2 Sizzix Bigz Die and is cut with Baja Breeze and So Saffron with a More Mustard center. The sentiment is stamped in Baja Breeze and is from the Great Friend set (love it!!). The final touch was to go around the littler butterfly with my 2-Way Glue Pen and add some Dazzling Diamonds for some shimmer!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a terrific day!

Card and a Bookmark CASE

Good Sunday Morning Stampers! Thanks for checking in with me today!

So today's card is one I completely CASED (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit)from one of the blogs that I check out regularly, Julie's Stamping Spot. I thought it was such a cute idea I just had to make one (or two) myself!

I started out with a piece of Baja Breeze cardstock measuring 3 1/4" x 11" folded in half and added a pocket of vellum with some white eyelets set with my Crop-A-Dile. I adhered a piece of Baja Breeze Striped Ribbon around the bottom and covered where the ends met with my sentiment from the Oval All set stamped in Baja Breeze. My sentiment was punched out with the Large Oval Punch and layered on Cameo Coral punched with the Scallop Oval Punch. The little flowers are from the Boho Blossoms Punch with a white brad in the center and adhered with a Dimensional.

The bookmark is a piece of the fabulous Walk in the Park DSP from the Occasions Mini catalog matted on a piece of Cameo Coral cardstock. I added a White Jumbo Grommet by punching my bookmark with the 1/2" Circle Punch and then feeding the "spokes" of the grommet through the hole and pushing them flat with the end of my scissors on the backside. The butterfly is stamped in Baja Breeze (what am I going to do when this color retires next month!!!)cut out and popped up with another Dimensional. The final touch is the super silky White Satin Ribbon also in the Occasions Mini.

Adorable! Thanks so much Julie for sharing this project!

Hope you have a terrific rest of your day-I'm off to spend time with my family in the jacuzzi with my cup of coffee! :)

Elizabeth

More Teacher Appreciation

Good Morning Stampers! Hope you are having a good day!

Today's project is one I can definitely classify under super, duper, stinkin' flippin' cute! I saw this purse first at our Woo Hoo Stampers event last month done by Liz Miller. I knew I wanted to make one as soon as I saw it but didn't have the dimensions and wasn't sure if I could figure it out. Then my new blogger friend, Rosemarie, made some and posted the directions! Yippee, thanks so much Rose!

I made two of the exact same purse and cards to go with it. One is for a raffle they are doing for the teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week and the other is to make everyone else drool! ;) Hee Hee! Rose's directions were so easy to follow so I whipped these both out in about an hour or so. I used Baja Breeze for my purse stamped with the flowers from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set in the same color. The purse flap is a Top Note Die Cut in Close to Cocoa and then run through with a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. I added some Velcro to keep the purse closed and added a Cherry Blossom Embosslit die cut in Baja Breeze with a half pearl from the Pretties Kit in the center. I used some Jumbo Eyelets set with my Crop-a-Dile and some Chocolate Chip Ribbon for the handles. The inside pockets are Stampin' Up's Large Cello Bags cut down to fit inside and holds four matching cards I made.

The cards were simple but turned out pretty nice I think. I made four for each purse. Two with a Baja Breeze base and two with a Kiwi Kiss base. I randomly stamped the same Fifth Avenue Floral flowers on WW and added a piece of Urban Oasis DSP, some striped ribbon and a sentiment and it's done!

What do you think? I'd love to hear from you!

Have a great day!
Hugs,
Elizabeth

Teacher Appreciation

Hi there Stampers! Thanks for joining me!

Today's project is a card and candy holder for one of my middle daughter's teachers. Usually teacher gifts are easy for me because most of the teachers we have had have been female-so anything pretty much goes, flowers, cutesie images, etc. It took me a little while to figure out what to make that was masculine.

I started out with a WW card base, added a strip of retired Ski Slope DSP with some Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon wrapped around it and stamped the apple from the Tart and Tangy set using my SU Markers. I punched the apple out with my 1 1/4" Circle punch and layered it on some Close to Cocoa cardstock punched with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. That was layered on some Old Olive punched with the Scallop Circle Punch and adhered with a Dimensional. The sentiment is from the One Smart Cookie stamp set and is stamped in Basic Black.

The gift is a giant Hershey's Chocolate bar wrapped in some more retired Ski Slope DSP. Hey, men like chocolate too, right?
I learned how to make this candy bar slider from the fabulous Queen of Purple, Dawn Griffith. Click HERE to see her awesome tutorial. To decorate the candy bar slider I stamped "A Little Yummy for Your Tummy" from the retired Yummy stamp set from Sale-A-Bration and layered it on a mat of Old Olive cardstock after using my Ticket Corner Punch to notch out the corners.

I'm sure he'll like it-who can resist chocolate?!

Hope you have a terrific day!
Hugs,
Elizabeth

Opus Gluei in Reach Challenge

Good morning Stampers! Happy Thursday! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Today's card is one I made after reading the new challenge at a new blog I found recently called the Order of the Opus Gluei-silly name but super fun! These ladies know how to get their craft on! :)

The challenge is to create something using just what is within reach of your work space and nothing else. I actually learned about the challenge on Monday morning, but I had cleared EVERYTHING off of my work space (insert shocked face here!)before leaving on Friday for my fabulous camping weekend. So I couldn't play until I had created something else and the mess that always goes with my creative process.

I had a made a card for Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch and used the Nursery Necessities set to create a baby card for yesterday's post. So the materials I had out I used for today's challenge. I have two family members having baby boys in July so another baby card worked out terrific!

I started out with a Bashful Blue card base, stamped the stars from the Nursery Necessities set randomly in bashful Blue and added a leftover strip of Delicate Dots DSP from the Sale-A-Bration special. I stamped the little chicks in So Saffron and punched them with my 1" Circle Punch and matted them on Certainly Celery punched with my 1 1/4" Circle Punch. The elephant is stamped in Bashful Blue, cut out and layered on a 1 3/8" Square of So Saffron. The final touch is the sentiment stamped in Basic Black. Cute!

Ingredients:
Stamps: Nursery Necessities Paper: Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Delicate Dots DSP Ink: Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Basic Black Accessories: 1" and 1 1/4" Circle Punches, 1 3/8" Square Punch

Need a challenge? Try this one!
Have a super day!

I stamped the stars from the Nursery Necessities stamp set in Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and So Saffron on WW and matted it with Certainly Celery and Sahara Sand. The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black and the smaller stars, punched with the Small Star Punch are popped up with dimensionals. Simple but I think it is cute!
