Color Throw Down and a Coffee Break Challenge

I haven't played along with a challenge in so long it was such fun to do these two! I combined two challenges for today's card. I used the sketch from the ladies at the Diva Coffee Break Designs blog as well as the colors for the Color Throw Down for this week!

I started out with a Whisper White card base and ran it through with the Birds and Swirls Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. I sponged the edges first in Certainly Celery and the in Perfect Plum. I added a thin strip of Chocolate Chip cardstock and stamped my image from the Very Thankful stamp set (#115338) in Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery and Chocolate Chip using my SU Markers. I matted it first on Perfect Plum and then on Certainly Celery cardstock. I popped it up on Dimensionals and added the knot of Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon with a Mini Glue Dot.

I love this peacock image! What's great about this stamp set is that it has a variety of styles (pretty, cutesy and more modern) and for every one of this stamp set sold Stampin' Up! donates $2 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. A great stamp set and a great cause!

Color Challenge and a Sketch!

Good Morning Stampers! Happy Thursday!


Today's card combines two challenges again. :) I used Kristina Werner's Color Challenge and the Diva Coffee Break ladies came up with another great sketch!



I started out my card with my typical WW base, added a panel of Pacific Point stamped with the large star from the Nursery Necessities stamp set in White Craft Ink, and added my strip of Real Red stamped with one of the sentiments in the same set in Basic Black. I added the Silver Brads and stamped my moon and little stars in Summer Sun. I punched out my little stars with the Small Star Punch and hand cut the moon. I added my images using Snail and Dimensionals. Very simple, as almost all my cards are, but definitely packs a punch with the bright colors!

Another Two Challenges in One!

Good Morning Stampers! Yippee it's Friday! I'm excited because we are going camping with some friends this weekend at the lake. Sun, boating, family, friends and fun what more could I ask for for Mother's Day weekend? Well I guess I could add stamping in there to make it perfect but I'm not about to schlep my stamping stuff to the lake! :)

So obviously I'm a big fan of all these fabulous challenges out there and love to play along but sometimes I just have to combine them or I'd miss out! There's just not enough time in the day!


Today's card combines the Diva Coffee Break Challenge to use things from the current catalog and your Big Shot and Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge.

I started out with a Rose Red base, added a panel of More Mustard and a panel of Candy Lane DSP. I die cut my Rose Red and More Mustard pieces with the Daisies #2 Sizzix Bigz Die and layered the flowers together. The center is my 1/2" Circle punch with some more Candy Lane DSP and I placed the flowers on a strip of WW.
The sentiment comes from the Great Friend stamp set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and punched with the Small Oval Punch. I layered it on Rose Red punched with the Large Oval Punch and then onto More Mustard punched with the Scallop Oval Punch. A little Chocolate Chip and Rose Red Grosgrain Ribbon and it's done!


The fun thing about some challenges is that they really stretch you out of your "normal" habits! I rarely use More Mustard and cannot imagine ever pairing it with Rose Red on my own. But it works!

Matchbox Drawers

Hi there stampers! Happy Thursday!
Today's project is one I've been seeing here and there and knew I just had to make one too. It is so stinking cute it's hard to resist! The best part is it is easy peasy! It is also my submission to the Diva Coffee Break Challenge for the week since I used my Big Shot!


I started with some Baja Breeze cardstock and ran it through my new Matchbox Die from the Occasions Mini three times and then just put the three matchboxes together. The base of the box doesn't even require any adhesive-how great is that?! The top sleeve part only uses a tiny bit of Sticky Strip. Then I used Sticky Strip to adhere all three boxes together and added a piece of Walk in the Park DSP also from the Occasions Mini (I LOVE this paper!)all the way around the stack of matchboxes. I added some Baja Breeze Striped Ribbon (LOVE this too!) and used Mini Glue Dots to stick the buttons from the Button Bouquet package. Easy peasy and super cute!

This would be a great project for students or scouts to make or as teacher appreciation gifts filled with candies, paper clips, chapsticks or whatever little treat you want!






Here's one I saw at my Woo Hoo Stampers event used with the Top Note die as the top and bottom! The used some chipboard, a Fleurette and a butterfly from the Beautiful Butterflies die to embellish the top! Can these get any cuter?

Three Challenges in Two!

Hi again stampers! I hadn't had a chance to play along with Taylor's Cupcake Sketch Challenge and thought I'd better do it quick-there will be a new one posted today! I paired Taylor's sketch with the Color Throw Down of the week, in fact the colors were so fun I made two cards and did two sketches with the same throw down colors. For the card I made for Taylor's sketch I CASED her sample with the cut panel. It was so super cute I thought I'd try it too.

I started out with a Sage Shadow card base (Oh my gosh-it's not whisper white?!?!)and added my Whisper White panel(phew-there's the white!) stamped with the flowers from Fifth Avenue Floral in Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip and Sage Shadow. I matted my little piece in Chocolate Chip and stamped one of the flowers in Pretty in Pink and added my sentiment from Birthday Hugs and Wishes in Chocolate Chip. I punched it with my 1 3/8" Circle Punch and added it to my Sage Shadow Scallop Circle.
I added a strip of Chocolate Chip punched with my Scallop Edge Punch, added some Pretty in Pink Grosgrain Ribbon around it and tied on the scallop circle with some Linen Thread. I think it turned out pretty, how about you?

My second card uses the Diva Coffee Break sketch of the week! I started again with a Sage Shadow card base, stamped the leafy image from the Great Friend set in the Occasions Mini Catalog in the same color and added my whisper White panel stamped in Pretty in Pink and Sage Shadow. I trimmed it with some Chocolate Chip cardstock punched with the Scallop Edge Punch and added doodle dots with my White Gel Pen (gotta love those doodle dots!). I stamped the butterfly again, cut it out and popped it up on half a Dimensional after glittering it up with my 2-Way Glue Pen and some Dazzling Diamonds. The sentiment is inked up with my SU Markers and punched with my 1 1/4" Square Punch and matted with some Pretty in Pink punched with the Scallop Square Punch. Simple but cute!

Diva Coffee Break Challenge

As I was blog surfing yesterday I came across the Diva Coffee Break Challenge for the week and of course had to play along! I had such fun using such simple colors that I had to make two cards!

When I saw the colors were white, black and gray I knew I wanted to ink up my much neglected Pocket Silhouettes stamp set!


I started with my typical WW base, added a panel of Walk in the Park DSP from the Occasions Mini Catalog and tied some organza ribbon from Michael's. I stamped my images in Basic Black on Whisper White (WW)and matted them on Scallop Squares of Basic Black. I popped them up on dimensionals and then added my butterfly from the Great Friend stamp set (I cannot get enough of this one!).

My second card starts with a WW base with a panel of Rockabilly DSP.
I added a strip of WW and some ribbon and stamped the happy birthday circles from the Wow Flowers stamp set in Basic Black and Going Gray. I punched them out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch and matted them on Basic Black Scallop Circles with Dimensionals. The final touch is the silver metal stickers (Colorbok). Kind of funky but I like it. :)

Diva Coffee Break Designs Challenge

Today's card covers two challenges, one I've played along with before and a new one I came across while blog surfing! You know how much I like these challenges so I'm pretty happy to have found another one to play with!

The first challenge is from the divas over at the Diva Coffee Break Designs blog


The second challenge is from the Color Throw Down blog, number 38 for them and uses Basic Gray, Ruby Red and Baja Breeze this week.





I started my card with a Whisper White base (what a surprise!) and then put together my mats and strip with Basic Gray then Baja Breeze then Ruby Red. I've been using the butterfly from the new Great Friend set in the Occasions Mini so much that my butterfly from Garden Whimsy was feeling neglected and was screaming at me to ink it up! Poor thing!;) So I inked her up in Baja Breeze and glittered her up with my 2 Way Glue Pen and some Dazzling Diamonds.
I punched the corners with my Ticket Corner Punch and added it to my mat. The sentiment is from the Great Friend set (had to use at least SOMETHING from that set!)and is punched with the Small Oval Punch, matted with the Large Oval Punch in Basic Gray and finished off with the Scallop Oval Punch in Baja Breeze. I used my 1/2" Circle Punch and my 1/4" Circle punch for the three circles in the corner and added White Gel Pen dots to the centers and to my Scallop Oval.

It's a simple card but I like it! While I had these colors out I made a couple other cards so come check them out tomorrow!

Diva Coffee Break Challenge

Today I decided to play along with the Divas over at the DCBC blog. This week's challenge really wasn't much of a challenge because I use my Big Shot ALL THE TIME!


My daughter had an Easter themed party with her Brownie troop and I needed something little but cute to give to her two troop leaders. What's better than chocolate than chocolate dressed up really cute?!
I started by running some of my left over Delicate Dots DSP from the Sale-A-Bration catalog through with the Sizzix Bigz XL Matchbox Die that's new in the Occasions Mini catalog. I quickly and easily put the matchboxes together using just one little piece of Sticky Strip for the box lid, as the bottom requires no adhesive at all! Next I stamped my bunny from the new Eight Great greetings also from the Occasions Mini in Black Stazon and colored him in with my SU Markers. I punched him out with my Wide Oval Punch and layered him on a Scallop Circle punched out of more Delicate Dots DSP. The So Saffron ribbon is also from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. Inside I wrapped two Ghiradelli chocolate squares in Delicate Dots DSP and added a die cut egg from the green sized Sizzix Eggs Die after running it through with a Cuttlebug Embossing folder. I think it turned out super cute and it was so easy!

Diva Coffee Break Design Challenge

Good morning stampers! How are you today? As I was doing my daily blog surfing I came across the Diva Coffee Break blog. They put out a new sketch challenge every week and I thought I'd play along today!

Being that their blog is called Diva Coffee Break I immediately thought of my Pun Fun set with the coffee cup image. So I started with a Sahara Sand base, added two strips of Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa and my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Folder embossed half circle made with the Sizzix Bigz Scallop Circle Die. I stamped three of the coffee cups in Black Stazon and colored them with my SU Markers. I stamped one more coffee cup, colored it in, cut it out and popped it up on Dimensionals. I matted it on Chcocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa and added my sentiment with a Word Window Punch and the Small Oval Punch. The finishing touch was the Rose Red Buttons with Linen Thread tied through it.
