Faux Tearing

Hey there stampers! Thanks for stopping by!
Today's card is the second one we did at my Technique Class this weekend.  I showed Faux Tearing for the grassy hill.

STEPS:

  1. Start with a Very Vanilla card stock base, add a panel of Crushed Curry and Close to Cocoa card stock.
  2. Using a scrap Scallop Circle and a sponge, sponge Bashful Blue ink to create clouds in the background on Very Vanilla card stock.
  3. Tear a scrap piece of paper to use as your mask.  Mask off the top part of your card and ink up the Texture Jumbo Wheel in Old Olive ink.  Wheel along bottom of card until you like the way it looks.
  4. Carefully move the mask up about an 1/8" and use a sponge and Old Olive ink to create a darker edge to your "hill".
  5. Stamp your tree and leaves from the Branch Out stamp set in Close to Cocoa, Crushed Curry and Old Olive.  Notch out the corners with the Ticket Corner Punch.
  6. Stamp the leaf that says "thanks" from the Falling Leaves stamp set in Pumpkin Pie ink on Very Vanilla card stock and cut out with scissors. Adhere to card with dimensional. Tie Old Olive Grosgrain ribbon around top of card.

INGREDIENTS:

  • STAMPS: Branch Out, Falling Leaves, Texture Jumbo Wheel
  • INK: Close to Cocoa, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive
  • PAPER: Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla,  Close to Cocoa
  • ACCESSORIES: Dimensionals, Old Olive Grograin Ribbon
  • TOOLS: Ticket Corner Punch

Have a terrific day!

Branch Out Fall Card

Hey there stampers!  Yes, I am still alive but barely!  I've been so sick and we all know how that goes as a mom....Lucky us we've been passing it through our family too! Ugh!  I hope you are all staying healthy out there!

Today's card uses one of my faves the Branch Out stamp set in fall colors.

STEPS:

  1. Start with a Pumpkin Pie card stock base and add a panel of Old Olive and Close to Cocoa.
  2. Using a punched out Scallop Circle scrap and a sponge, sponge Bashful Blue on Whisper White card stock to create clouds.  Notch out the corners with the Ticket Corner Punch.
  3. Tear a piece of scrap paper to make a hill and cover the top part of your card.  Brayer Old Olive along the bottom to create the grassy hill.  This technique is also called "faux tearing".
  4. Stamp the tree from the Branch Out stamp set in Close to Cocoa and the leaves in Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and Crushed Curry inks.
  5. Stamp the sentiment from the falling Leaves stamp set using Stampin' Write Markers and punch with the 1" Cicle Punch.  Layer onto Pumpkin Pie punched with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch and adhere to card with a Dimensional.

INGREDIENTS:

  • STAMPS: Branch Out, Falling Leaves
  • INK: Old Olive, Close to Cocoa, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Stampin' Write Markers

Feels Like Fall :)

Hey there stampers! Thanks for stopping by today! It's finally beginning to feel like fall even though I've been making Halloween cards and projects for what seems like months!  So I quickly whipped up this fall card this morning!
Today's card uses one of my favorite stamp sets called Branch Out.

STEPS:

  1. Start out with a card base of Dusty Durango card stock and add a panel of More Mustard card stock.
  2. Stamp the tree image from the Branch Out stamp set in Close to Cocoa on Very Vanilla card stock and add leaves in Close to Cocoa, Dusty Durango and More Mustard.
  3. Using Close to Cocoa and Dusty Durango ink pads, add color to edges of main panel using the direct to paper technique (I call it schmutzing-but I'm wierd like that).  Just hold the ink pad and swipe your card stock onto the edges of the stamp pad and work your way around until you like it. :)
  4. Adhere panel to rest of card.  Stamp sentiment from the All Holidays stamp set in Close to Cocoa on Very Vanilla and punch with the Word Window Punch and add to More Mustard punched with the Modern Label Punch and finally onto Close to Cocoa punched with the Designer label Punch after being embossed with a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Bird and Swirls (it was a scrap and worked!)

INGREDIENTS:

  • STAMPS: Branch Out, All Holidays
  • INK: More Mustard, Dusty Durango, Close to Cocoa
  • PAPER: Very vanilla, More Mustard, Dusty Durango
  • TOOLS: Word Window, Modern Label and Designer Label Punches

Have a great day-I am off to work!

Spooky Puzzle

Hey there stampers! How are you?  Hope you are having a great day!
Today's project is actually a puzzle!  I found some of these premade puzzles at our local craft store in the clearance section and thought it would be fun to stamp on and send.

STEPS:

  1. Ink up Frightful Fence Jumbo Wheel in Black Craft Ink and roll onto blank puzzle.  Sprinkle Black Embossing Powder and set with Heat Tool.
  2. Ink up tree from Branch out in Black Craft ink and stamp on ends of puzzle.  Sprinkle Black Embossing Powder and set with Heat Tool.
  3. Ink up ghosts from Twick or Tweet stamp set omitting the sentiment in Black Craft ink, sprinkle Black Embossing Powder and set with Heat Tool.
  4. Using a Brayer, ink up whole puzzle with Apricot Appeal ink.  Wash off brayer.  Punch sticky part of a Post It note using the 1 3/8" Circle punch to create a mask for the "moon".
  5. Set the moon mask where you want it and ink up the brayer with Pumpkin Pie ink.  Roll about 1/2 way down the puzzle until you get the desired look.  Clean off brayer.
  6. Ink up brayer in Rich Razzleberry ink and roll towards top of puzzle until you get the desired look.  Wash off brayer and ink with Basic Black.  Roll along top edge of puzzle until you achieve desired look.

INGREDIENTS:

  • STAMPS: Frightful Fence Jumbo Wheel, Branch Out, Twick or Tweet
  • INK: Black Craft Ink, Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black Classic Ink
  • PAPER: Puzzle from craft store
  • ACCESSORIES: Black Embossing Powder
  • TOOLS: Brayer, Pwder Pal, Heat Tool

I have to say I was inspired by Michelle Zindorf and her fabulous creations-she is truly an artist!

My Card Swap for Today's Demo Event

Good Morning Stampers! I am so excited! Today is the Woo Hoo Stampers event in Valencia. It's going to be a day packed with training, demonstrations, awesome ideas and best of all other demonstrators and swaps! :)

So here is my swap card. Pretty simple but I like it. I started out with a Whisper White base, added a panel of Certainly Celery stamped with the little butterflies from the Branch Out stamp set in the same color. A panel of Pink Pirouette mats the Whisper White piece stamped with the tree from the Branch Out set in Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery, Pink Pirouette, and Pretty in Pink. I added a Jumbo Eyelet to the tire swing, some Certainly Celery Grosgrain Ribbon and the sentiment from the Oval All stamp set in the new Occasions Mini matted with a Pretty in Pink Scallop Oval. So what do you think? I hope the other demos like it. :)

I hope you have a terrific Saturday! Come back tomorrow for a new card I made with the Many Mower set-it turned out cute!!

Sweet Sunday Sketch of the Week

Good Morning Stampers! Thanks for stopping by!
Yesterday I stamped a little and played along with Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch. I knew I wanted to use my Branch Out set but wasn't sure on colors. I finally decided on a more masculine look and used some of the scraps I had on my table from the card I posted yesterday. It definitely has a Fall look to it and the weather the last few days is very far from a Fall feel!
I started with an Old Olive card base, added some torn Close to Cocoa with a strip of Pumpkin Pie, and stamped my tree from the Branch Out set in Close to Cocoa. I added the leaves in Ridinghood Red, Close to Cocoa and Pumpkin Pie and matted it on a piece of Ridinghood Red and Close to Cocoa after adding my Jumbo Eyelet for the tire swing.
The sentiment is from the new Oval All set in the Occasions Mini and is punched with the Large Oval Punch and matted on a piece of Close to Cocoa punched with the new Scallop Oval Punch. The final touch is a piece of Ridinghood Red Striped Ribbon tucked under the main panel. I think I am going to try this with a more spring/feminine look tomorrow as I am still trying to figure out my swaps for this upcoming Saturday!!! Yikes!

Ingredients
:
Stamps: Branch Out, Oval All Paper: Close to Cocoa, Ridinghood Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, WW Ink: Close to Cocoa, Ridinghood Red, Pumpkin Pie Accessories: Jumbo Eyelet, Ridinghood Red Striped Ribbon, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Dimensionals, Crop-a-dile

Hope you have a super day!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge

Good morning Stampers! I hope you had a great weekend! My two older daughters have been in AZ visiting their grandma since Thursday evening and I am so glad to have them finally home! Of course gone is the peace and quiet too!
So it's time for another awesome Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge from Karen! This was such a fun sketch and I had a hard time deciding which stamp set to use so I made two!

The first one is using the Branch Out set from the Idea Book and Catalog. I had my eye on this set and had to have it-apparently I have a thing for trees lately! I started out with a Chocolate Chip base, added some Old Olive DSP and ran some Old Olive Cardstock through my Big Kick with the Scallop Circles #2 Sizzix Bigz Die to make the big scallop circle. I cut the WW circle using my Coluzzle. My main image is stamped with Close to Cocoa for the tree trunk and branches and Kiwi Kiss and Old Olive for the leaves. I added a hint of color by stamping the birdhouse image in Tangerine Tango. I stamped the "Celebrate" from the new Matchbox Messages (from the new mini available April 1st)in Chocolate Chip, cut it out and layered it on the coordinating Matchbox Label from the new Matchbox Die also in the new mini. The final touch was a piece of Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon.

Having gotten my preorder from the Occasions Mini I had many new things to play with. I really wanted to stamp with my new Forest Friends set so I made another card using the same sketch but turning it on its side. I used the same DSP and cardstock colors that I used in the first card since I had it all out already. Again I started out with my Chocolate Chip card base, added the Old Olive DSP matted with Tangerine Tango. I die cut another Old Olive Scallop Circle using the Scallop Circles #2 Sizzix Bigz Die. I stamped the tree image using several SU Markers and the deer with Close to Cocoa. I went back and colored in its nose and hooves with my Chocolate Chip marker and colored in the ground. The butterflies are from the Branch Out set and are stamped in Tangerine Tango. The final touch was a knotted Tangerine Tango Striped Ribbon and the sentiment same as the first card.

Ingredients #1:
Stamps: Branch Out, Matchbox Messages Paper: Old Olive DSP, Old Olive, WW, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango Ink: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Kiwi Kiss Accessories: Matchbox Die, Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon, Coluzzle, Scallop Circles #2 Die, 1/4" Circle Punch

Ingredients #2:
Stamps: Branch Out, Forest Friends, Matchbox Messages Paper: Old Olive DSP, Old Olive, WW, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango Ink: SU Markers, Close to Cocoa, Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip Accessories: Matchbox Die, Tangerine Tango Striped Ribbon, Coluzzle, Scallop Circles #2 Die,

Hope you enjoyed my cards!
